Recommended reprocessing and sterilization of the burs
1. Cleaning
Immediately after use, remove all visible contamination, deposits, and organic residues from the burs.
For cleaning, we recommend a pH-neutral or nearly pH-neutral enzymatic cleaning agent that is explicitly intended for the reprocessing of reusable medical or dental instruments.
Before use, ensure that the cleaning agent is compatible with tungsten carbide and other metals used for the instruments, according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Dosage, contact time, and application of the cleaning agent must be carried out in accordance with the respective manufacturer's specifications.
2. Rinsing
After cleaning, rinse the instruments thoroughly with clean water to completely remove loosened contaminants and residues of the cleaning agent used.
If necessary, hard-to-reach areas can be carefully cleaned with a suitable instrument brush.
3. Disinfection
Use an instrument disinfectant suitable for tungsten carbide. Avoid disinfectants containing benzalkonium chloride or quaternary ammonium compounds. Products containing peracetic acid, such as Oxicer, should also not be used at this time.
4. Final rinsing
Rinse the burs thoroughly with clean water to remove all residues of the cleaning or disinfecting agent.
5. Drying
Dry the burs completely. Before sterilization, no water or chemical residues must remain on the working part or the shank.
6. Steam sterilization
Sterilize the thoroughly cleaned and dried burs in an autoclave. Observe the sterilizer manufacturer's instructions.
Recommended parameters:
Temperature: 121 °C (250 °F)
Pressure: 102.8- 122.9 kPa
Sterilization time: 30 minutes
Note: All products are supplied non-sterile. If sterilization is required, steam sterilization must be used.
